The basics

What Is a Shell Scheme Stand?

A shell scheme is a stand that the organiser builds for you: a fixed set of partition walls, a fascia board with your company name and a few basic fittings. You pay the organiser for the space and the package together, and you arrive with your products and staff. The alternative is “raw” or bare space, where you bring your own custom exhibition stall design and build from the floor up.

Packages differ from show to show, so always read the exhibitor manual. As an example, a TDAP participation form for a 2025 show at Expo Centre Lahore lists a shell scheme package with a fascia board carrying the company name and logo, partition wall panelling, lighting, carpeting, an information desk with a chair, one round table with two chairs and a waste bin. A 2024 TDAP exhibitor manual for a Karachi show describes a shell stall with a 4 m back wall, 3 m side walls and a standard height of 3 m. Treat these as examples of what to expect, not a guarantee for your show.

If you exhibit once or twice a year and the organiser sells shell space, an upgrade is usually the cheapest way to look professional. If you want a layout the shell cannot give you, such as a private meeting room or an open island, ask for raw space and plan a custom build. Our custom vs modular guide covers the break-even point for repeat shows.

How to Upgrade a Shell Scheme Stand Without Breaking the Rules

01

Graphics first

Large-format printed panels on the back wall and fascia change the look of a shell more than anything else. Our exhibition branding team prints to fit the exact panel sizes.

02

Replace the furniture

Swap the standard table for a branded counter or a lit display plinth. Hired or built furniture lifts the whole stand.

03

Add lighting

Spot or backlit lighting on your product and logo makes a plain shell feel considered. Check the extra power with the organiser.

04

Flooring and colour

Carpet or vinyl in your brand colour defines your space against the neighbours.

05

One feature piece

A single tall element such as a lit logo or a screen wall draws the eye from the aisle without crowding a small footprint.

06

Ask before you fix anything

Many organisers restrict drilling, screwing into panels and hanging from the ceiling. Use freestanding or clamp-on solutions unless they approve.

How we work

How We Handle a Shell Scheme Upgrade

  1. Send the manual. Share the exhibitor manual, your stand number and the shell package so we know exactly what is included.
  2. We design on top of it. We draw the upgrade to the real shell dimensions and show it in a 3D render before anything is made.
  3. We make the add-ons. Graphics, counters, display units and lighting are produced in our fabrication unit to fit the shell.
  4. We install and remove. Our crew fits everything within the organiser’s move-in and dismantling schedule, using our installation service.

Budget and timing depend on how much you add. Because the structure already exists, an upgrade usually costs less than a full custom build of the same size; share your show and package and we quote against it. Compare against typical bands in the stall cost guide.

The organiser. Space and shell packages are paid to the show organiser, not to the stand builder. Our quote covers only the upgrade work.

Yes. Send the exhibitor manual and stand number and we design the upgrade around the actual shell package.

A standard upgrade follows the same 2–5 week notice as a standard stall. Order earlier if you need printed graphics or a custom counter.
